MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — Richard L. Levings, 78, died March 24 following a brief illness. Born July 3, 1935, in Sabetha, he was the son of Charles Henry Levings and Bernice Mabre Thompson. Shortly after high school he joined the U.S. Army in 1957.
Survivors include a brother, Bernard, of Great Bend; six step-children, Don (Nikki) Grogan of Lexington, S.C., Jon Grogan of Farmington, Mo., Fabian Grogan of Marshalltown, Iowa, Rita Lunsford of Wichita, Nita Dewey of Athens, Tenn., and Patti Sevenson of LeGrand, Iowa; six step-grandchildren, Brandy, Jamie, Scott, Lauryn, Skylar and Storm; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cheryl Ann Levings; and longtime companion, Sarah (Rose) Shealy.
Funeral services were held on March 27 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown, Iowa. Interment followed at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.
