Robert E. Yetschke, 85, died May 3, 2010 at his home in Great Bend. Born May 27, 1924 in Great Bend, he was the son of Clarence and Chole (Piper) Yetschke. Betty Ann Yetschke, 84, died May 5, 2010 at her home in Great Bend. Born May 17, 1925 in Tulsa, Okla., she was the daughter of Donald Sr. and Frances (Corbeille) Bowsher.
Robert E. Yetschke and Betty Ann Bowsher were married Dec. 27, 1946 in Great Bend. He was a floor covering installer, owning Yetschke Floor Service. She worked for Kansas Power and Light, Co. as a division secretary for thirty years.
Mr. Yetschke served during World War II with the 757th Tank Battalion in the United States Army. Mrs. Yetschke was a member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and KPL Retirees Club, all of Great Bend.
Survivors include a son, Kent Robert Yetschke of Great Bend; a daughter, Barbara Ann Yetschke of Wichita; Robert’s two sisters, Evelyn Everett of Ulysses and Wilma Jean Cuzick of Great Bend; Betty’s brother and sister, Donald A. Bowsher, Jr. of Great Bend and Vickie Cole of Hays; two grandchildren, Juli Ann Sparkman and husband George and Kendra D. Brown; and two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Logan Williams. They were preceded in death by Betty’s sister, Sherry Barnett; and one granddaughter, Tara Rene Yetschke.
Their bodies were donated for research to the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Great Bend Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Sheldon officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home.
