Robert J. Bob McClary 1933 - 2012

Robert J. “Bob” McClary, 78, died April 4 at The Life Care Center of Wichita. Born Aug. 2, 1933, in El Dorado, he was the son of John F. and Maudyne (Brown) McClary. He married Patsy G. Barnett on Jan. 22, 1956, in Great Bend. A longtime Great Bend resident, he worked in many areas of the oilfield service industry, and was owner and operator of McClary Tank Service and Action Carpet Cleaning.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-57, stationed in Weisbaden, Germany.
Mr. McClary was a member of the Great Bend Saddle Club, the Masonic Temple and St. Johns Episcopal Church. He enjoyed horseback riding on the Arkansas River, camping and water skiing at Wilson and Kanopolis lakes, tending to his horses, tinkering with old cars and volunteering for the Salvation Army and Prairie Land Foods.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; son Eric of Kansas City, Mo.; sister Evelyn Viles, Wichita; neice Chris Viles, Wichita; nephew Rick Viles, Toronto, Kan.; one granddaughter and one grandson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Great Bend Humane Society. Memorial services are pending. Baker Funeral Home in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.
