Robert Lynn Drosselmeyer

Robert Lynn Drosselmeyer, 79, died June 23, 2026, at HaysMed, Hays, Kan. He was born Aug. 7, 1946, in Anthony, Kan., the son of Leslie E. and Fern E. (Welch) Drosselmeyer. Robert graduated from Anthony High School in 1964 and then went on to receive both his bachelor’s and master’s degree in history and secondary education from Emporia State College.

On June 8, 1974, he married Darla J. Klassen in Newton, Kan. They were blessed with two daughters, Lindsay and Rachel. They lived in Kansas City and Shawnee, Kan., where Robert taught school at Schlagle High School and Sumner Academy, retiring in 2001. In 2024, they moved to Great Bend, Kan., to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darla Drosselmeyer of the home; daughters, Lindsay Reif and husband Terry, and Rachel Johnson and husband Justin, all of Hoisington; and five grandchildren, Chance Mitchell, Johnny Johnson, Wesley Mitchell, Rowen Johnson, and Caleb Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Drosselmeyer; and sister, Karen Davis.

A private family graveside service was held in the Hoisington City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
