ELLINWOOD — Roberta Eloise Ahrens, 87, passed away on Aug. 6th, 2022 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. Born on March 5, 1935 in rural Ellinwood, she was the daughter of Fred H. and Viola A. (Brenn) Muller. She graduated from Ellinwood High School and Hutchinson Community College.
A lifetime Ellinwood area resident, Roberta was a homemaker, bookkeeper, substitute teacher and school secretary. Roberta married Morris Ahrens in Ellinwood on Sept. 8, 1957. He passed away Jan. 21, 1993. Her memberships include the Immanuel United Church of Christ, Women’s Fellowship group, WCSC and church council.
Survivors include daughters, Cynthia (Fred) Gunn, Ellinwood, Brenda (Lyle) Smart, Hutchinson; sons, Ronald (Stephanie) Ahrens, Ellinwood, Martin (Elaine) Ahrens, Newton; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Morris Ahrens; and brother, Harold Muller.
Graveside service will take place 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 13th at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, with Pastor Michael Munz officiating. Visitation will take place Friday, Aug. 12th from 1-6 p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood with family receiving friends from 5-6 p.m. Memorials may be given to Immanuel United Church of Christ in care of Minnis Chapel.
