Roberta J. “Bert” Brack

Roberta J. “Bert” Brack, 87, passed away Feb. 10, 2020, at Leisure Homestead, St. John. She was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Great Bend, to Robert Michael and Mary Jane (Boyle) Spitzmiller. Bert married Daylon Laverne Brack Aug. 18, 1952, in Great Bend, and later divorced.  

Bert, a life time resident of Great Bend, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, Great Bend Desk and Derrick and the Great Bend Saddle Club. During her employment career, she worked for Fuller Brush Industries, Insurance Unlimited, Crawford and Company, then retired from the Great Bend Convention and Visitors Bureau. Following her retirement, she enjoyed her part time employment at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center. Bert was known for her lifetime equine passion, enjoying fellowship with other members of the Great Bend Saddle Club. 

Survivors include one daughter, Cathy Vonfeldt of Great Bend; one son, Gary Brack of Wichita; six grandchildren, Jason, Jared, Shaunta, Lavenia, Lance and Makishia; and 17 great grandchildren. Bert was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Chester Smith; and two brothers, Robert Michael “Mike” Spitzmiller and John Henry “Jack” Spitzmiller.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Rev. Barbara Jones presiding. Inurnment will be 1:30 p.m. at Pawnee Rock Cemetery, Pawnee Rock. The register book will be available to sign 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020 at Bryant Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been designated for Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
