Rodney Wayne Smith, 69, passed away at his home on February 2, 2020. He was born on March 7, 1950, at Hoisington to Ivan and Myra (Carlisle) Smith.
A lifetime Barton county resident, Rodney lived in Great Bend. He was a truck driver for Air Co and most recently Groendyke. He loved hunting, fishing, and the peaceful solitude that his profession offered.
Survivors include, a son, Ryan Smith of Topeka; three daughters, Rachael Colby and husband Harold of Franklin, Neb., Jennifer Vratil and husband Jay of Great Bend, and Annika Smith of Great Bend; and eight grandchildren, Trenton Colby, Kendall Colby, Taylor Vratil, Brooke Vratil, Braden Vratil, Kade Vratil, Rylee Smith, and Ryan Smith, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Janice Dyer, infant Karen Smith, and Tacy Smith.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Joiner presiding.
