HOISINGTON — Ron V. Barlow, 69, died June 26, 2016, at Cherry Village Nursing Center in Great Bend. Born Sept. 11, 1946, in Lawrence, he was the son of Ernest (Dusty) and Helen (Hildebrand) Barlow. On Oct. 16, 1966, he married Laura Michaelis in Hoisington. A resident of Hoisington since 1964, coming from Moundridge, he was a cable splicer for Sprint, Embarq and United Telephone, retiring after 36 years of service.
Mr. Barlow was a United States Army Reserve veteran. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where he was a former church council member, former USD 431 school board member, and charter member of the Hoisington Jaycees. He was an EMT and a little league baseball coach.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Barlow, of the home; one son, Brooke Barlow of Wichita; one daughter, Jessica Campbell and her husband Justin of Hoisington; two sisters, Pam Clark of Austin, Texas, and Cassie Barlow-Long of Texas; and four grandchildren, Savannah Barlow, Taylor Barlow, Rylie Campbell and Peyton Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hoisington with Pastor Shelly Klingensmith officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Ron Barlow Funeral Expense Fund, in care of the funeral home.
