Rosella A. "Rosie Dozie" Smith, 98, of Great Bend, died Nov. 28 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood.
She was born Sept. 6, 1913, at Barton County, the daughter of Henry and Katherine (Both) Ideker. She married Lloyd Smith Oct. 19, 1934, at Larned. He died Jan. 24, 1987. She was a homemaker. A lifetime Barton County resident, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Smith formerly attended First Church of the Nazarene, Great Bend, and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, needlework and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Al Gene Smith and wife Pat, Great Bend; a daughter, Nelda Faye Blackwell and husband Dean, Scott City; a sister, Mildred Brauer, La Crosse; a brother, Lester Ideker, La Crosse; six grandchildren, Deana Long and her husband Bruce; David Blackwell and his wife Alicia; Lynette Axtell and her husband Todd; Todd Smith and his wife Theresa; Michele O’Neil; and Charles Jean and his wife Patty; 23 great-grandchildren, Joel, Jonah, and Lydia Long; Krysta, Tessa and Devin Blackwell; Creighton Lahman; Chelsea and Caleigh Doerr; Trevor, Logan, Landen, and Reece O’Neil; Trenton and Tyler Jean; Bianca Mendoza; Alexis Cooper; Austin, Tallen and Aryiah Smith; and Sarah, Robyn, and Rachael Axtell; and one great-great-grandchild, Jair Ordonez.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Ideker and Velmer Ideker; and a sister, Evelyn Blattner.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5 at the Bryant Funeral Home with Officiant Pastor Richard Bunn and the Rev. Loyce Clay. Interment will be at the Larned Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to service time Monday at Bryant Funeral Home.
