Rufus P. Fimple 1921-2014

GREAT BEND – Rufus P. Fimple, 93, died June 26, 2014 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 3, 1921 at Bacca County, Colo., the son of James Robert and Levree (King) Fimple.
He married La Wanda Mae Warren July 20, 1943 at Sterling. She died Oct. 7, 1992. He married Phyllis E. (St. Clair) Ankerholz Jan. 15, 1994 at Great Bend. She died Nov. 27, 2013. He was a loan officer for First National Bank, until retirement in Great Bend. Mr. Fimple was a lifetime Great Bend resident coming from Sterling.
He was an United States Army Air Force veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 180, BPO Elks Lodge No. 1127, and Great Bend Petroleum Club, all of Great Bend.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Fimple and his wife Karla, Wichita; and Andy Fimple, Great Bend; a sister, Viola M. Harrison, Sterling and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James R. Fimple.
A graveside Memorial Service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3 at Great Bend Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Fort Riley Honor Guard with The Reverend Lennie Maxwell officiating. Inurnment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. There will be visitation as cremation has taken place.
Memorial Funds are requested to the American Diabetes Association or Barton Community College Foundation, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
