ARKANSAS CITY — Russell Allen Davis, 79, of Arkansas City died Dec. 30 at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center ICU in Arkansas City. Russell was born Nov. 1, 1931, to David and Lena (Hester) Davis on a farm in Galatia. He was reared and educated in Galatia.

On Oct. 24, 1953, he married Betty Bonham in Galatia. The couple made their home in Hoisington before moving to Arkansas City in 1956.

After moving to Arkansas City, Russell worked as a roughneck in the oil fields. He then worked for Gordon Piatt as a machinist for 14 years then worked at Strother Thermal Flood for eight years. His last job was working as a machinist for G.E. for 10 years, until he retired at the age of 62.

He had a passion for being outdoors hunting, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife Betty of the home; two daughters, Cynthia Lunceford and husband Rick of Enid, Okla., and Sandy Nally and husband LeeRoy Jr. of Winfield; a son, Kenny Davis and wife Marvie of Arkansas City; grandson, Zhawn Wyckoff of Blackwell, Okla.; granddaughter, Sharon Holt and husband Cory of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four brothers, Emerson Davis and wife Betty, and Albert Davis, all of Hoisington, Arnold Davis and wife Shirley of Sun City, Calif., and Wayne Davis and wife Donna of Oklahoma; sister, KayRee Johnson and husband Larry of Great Bend; three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Geneva Davis, brothers Richard Davis and Evan Davis, grandson Michael Wayne Davis, and sister-in-law Marge Davis.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Pastor Tim Milby will officiate. Burial will follow in the Parker Cemetery at Arkansas City.
