RUSSELL — Sadie E. (Bachman) Feil, 92 of Russell, died Jan. 2 at the Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. She was born Nov. 17, 1918, southwest of Dorrance on the family farm, the daughter of Peter and Adella (Klusener) Bachman. She grew up in the Dorrance area and graduated from Dorrance High School. She married Jacob Feil, after he returned from the war, on Nov. 30, 1945, in Dorrance. They lived in Russell until 1954 when the family moved to Wichita. The family returned to Russell in 1959. Jacob preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 2004. She lived her last years in Manhattan at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community.
Mrs. Feil was a member in the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Russell and the church guild. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
Surviving family include her son Dean Feil of Andover, daughter Janice Fuller of Manhattan, brother Peter Bachman of Alamo, Texas, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, two brothers, three sisters and a grandson.
Celebration of Sadie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, with the Rev. James Strasen officiating. A private family committal will follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary, with family present to greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time. A memorial has been established with Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community, in care of the mortuary.
