Sheila Dawn Towery, 49, passed away January 31, 2021, at her home in Great Bend. She was born August 30, 1971, in Joplin, Mo., and was later adopted in 1978 by Richard Michael, Sr. and Carol (McDaniel) VanBuskirk. She had previously been married to Brian Bubb and Scott Towery.
A long time Barton county resident, Sheila was a volunteer at Central Kansas CASA. She loved the outdoors, loved to hunt and spend time with her family.
Survivors include her fiancé, Timmy Trantham; a son, Cameron Bubb of Great Bend; two daughters, Samantha Towery of Tulsa, Okla., and Courtney Thorne and husband Dakota of Larned; a future step daughter, Skylar Trantham; her mother, Carol Chinn of Pratt; two brothers, Mikie VanBuskirk and Lori Snow of Alva, Okla., and David VanBuskirk and wife Sheila of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Debra Brunet and husband Steve of Louisville, Ky., and Kandie VanBuskirk of Dallas, Tex.; and a step grandson, Kaden Thorne. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Michael VanBusKirk, Sr.; and stepfather, Timothy Chinn.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Private Family services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor John Hamm presiding. Memorials have been designated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
