She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, on Sept. 8, 1957. On March 18, 1958, Jeanette received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Joseph Andre. Changes in religious life gave her the opportunity to return to her baptismal name Jeanette. She pronounced first vows on March 19, 1959, and final vows on March 19, 1962.

She served as staff member with the Dominican Sisters at the Heartland Center for Spirituality in Great Bend, until her parents’ illnesses in 1998 led her to care for them until their deaths in Hays in December/January of 1999-2000. After a sabbatical, she served as the Nazareth Motherhouse Administrator in Concordia, until she moved to Orange, Calif., serving as a Pastoral Care Associate for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange.
