TIMKEN — Stanley M. Elsen, 61, died Aug. 19 at Hutchinson Regional Hospital. Born Jan. 29, 1951 in Great Bend, he was the son of Nicholas and Emelia (Schwartz) Elsen. He was a resident of Timken for 26 years, coming from Pawnee Rock. On May 8, 1976 he married Janet Rodie in Great Bend. She survives. Mr. Elsen was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Survivors include wife, Janet Elsen, of the home; two sons, David Elsen and his companion Melissa Hunsberger of Colby and Ryan Elsen and his wife Kimberly of Great Bend; three sisters Vera Henning and Connie Watts, both of Great Bend; and Betty Staudinger of Beaver; three brothers, Nick Elsen and Jerome Elsen, both of Great Bend and Ralph Elsen of Parsons; and two grandsons, Ethan Elsen and Owen Elsen. He was preceded in death by daughter, Jennifer Elsen Wylie; a  brother, Richard Elsen; and a sister, Julitta Dyer.
A Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Reginald A. Urban officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery North. Friends  may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Life Watch or Stanley M.
