HOISINGTON — Stephen Wayne Schrepel, 64, died Sept. 20, 2021, at his home in Hoisington. He was born June 22, 1957, in Hays, Kan., the son of Leslie Charles and Carol Louise (Kimball) Schrepel. Stephen graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1976 and attended Barton Community College. 

On March 12, 1978, he married Myrna Gwen Curry at the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend. They later divorced. He then married Lynette Radenberg in Hoisington, Kan. and they later divorced.

A longtime Hoisington resident, coming from Medicine Lodge, Stephen worked for the Larned State Hospital. He formerly worked for Essex and the Clara Barton Hospital. He was a past Boy Scout Leader and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.  He served on the Hoisington City Council and as a Hoisington Volunteer Firefighter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his three children, Chadd Schrepel and wife Erin of Gardner, Todd Schrepel and Angela Schrepel, both of Hoisington; a sister, Vickie Bahr and husband Bill of Arkansas; two brothers, Terry Schrepel and wife Terri of Buellton, Calif., and Mark Schrepel and wife Meleah of Goddard; and two grandchildren, Wyatt and Callie Schrepel.

Visitation will be 1 – 8 p.m., Sunday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Ron Bailey presiding.
