LARNED – Steven E. Crockett, 60, died Jan. 20 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born March 31, 1952, in Dodge City, the son of Edward and Emma James Crockett. On July 8, 1973, he married Carol Arrowsmith at Sedgwick. A long-time Larned resident, he was a disciplinary hearing officer for the Juvenile Justice Authority.
Mr. Crockett was of the Christian faith; he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a Boy Scout leader, a USD 495 school board member and a member of the Pawnee County Crime Stoppers.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Matt Crockett, Commerce City, Colo.; a daughter, Tess Gevara, Larned; two sisters, Sue Hosford, of Texas, and Judy DuPree, Kinsley; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Warner.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Ryan Webster presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be sent to the Boy Scouts or the Pawnee County Humane Society in care of the mortuary.
