Steven Lee Haines 1950 - 2017

ELLINWOOD — Steven Lee Haines, 67, passed away in Ellinwood on July 8, 2017. He was born in Great Bend on March 2nd, 1950, the son of Paul and Lucille (Cobler) Haines. Steven was a longtime Barton County resident formerly of El Dorado. He graduated from Rosalia High School in 1968 and later attended Barton County Community College. Steven also served four years in the United States Navy as a boiler tech during the Vietnam War. He married Diane Edwards on May 6th, 1995 in Ellinwood. She survives of the home.
Memberships include the Immanuel United Church of Christ and the VFW #3111 in Great Bend.
Survivors include, his wife, Diane Haines, of Ellinwood; mother, Lucille Haines of Great Bend; daughter, Heather Ramsey and husband David, of Great Bend; step-sons, Shane Edwards of Wichita and Michael Edwards of Eureka; and six grandchildren, Travis Williams, Skyler Ramsey, Ashton Ramsey, Mariah Edwards, Felicity Edwards, and Jennifer Edwards. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Haines; and brother, Richard Haines.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood with Mike Munz officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. on Wednesday, with family present from 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Ellinwood Hospital Auxiliary or Golden Belt Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
