Steven Ray Renz

LAKIN — Steven Ray Renz, of Lakin, Kan., a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly at the age of 62.

He was the first of three boys born to Arlyn and Gloria (Cunningham) Renz on Aug. 27, 1959 in LaCrosse, Kan. He was a 1977 graduate of Otis Bison High School and attended Barton County Community College. Steve married the love of his life, Donna Cheryl Coen, in Rush Center, Kan. on April 26, 1980. They were blessed with 41 years together and three children.

Steve enjoyed hunting, woodworking, gardening, and restoring his high school car, a 1972 Cuda. But his greatest joy was doing anything and everything with and for his grandkids. He was the center, the rock of his family, and he will be greatly missed. He was the General Manager of Turnkey Computer Systems and was very dedicated to his job and those he worked with. He was a member of Pheasants Forever, the Lakin Gun Club, and Cornerstone Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved father Arlyn Renz and a grandson Colby Wozencraft.

Survivors include his wife Donna Renz of the home; daughters Megan Wozencraft (Dewayne) of Lakin, Kan., Janelle Rush of Winfield, Kan.; and son Justin (Krista) Renz of Holcomb, Kan.; grandchildren Devin and Dylan Wozencraft, Aden, Lukien, and Marek Rush, and Sawyer, Emmika, and Zayden Renz; mother, Gloria Renz of Albert, Kan.; brothers Kevin (Diane) Renz of Great Bend, Kan., and Darrin (Cindy) Renz of Laurel, Miss. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends to remember him.

A memorial for Steve will be held at the Cornerstone Church in Garden City, Kan. at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5th, 2022. Graveside services at the Lakin Cemetery will follow. There will be a gathering at the Lakin Memorial Building afterward for anyone who would like to join. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin, Kan. Condolences may be given at garnandfuneralhomes.com. Steve strongly believed in mentoring the future hunters of the world. Memorials to help sponsor youth hunts and education may be given in lieu of flowers to the Steve Renz Young Hunters Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Lakin.
