LAWRENCE — Memorial Service/Celebration of Life for Sue K. Hobbs will be held Saturday June 5th, 2021 at 11 a.m. The service will be held at The Claflin United Methodist Church in Claflin, Kan. We will gather after the service in Great Bend, Kan, at The Page from 1:30 until 5:30.
She died Jan. 1, 2021, at LMH Health. Sue was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Temple, Texas, the daughter of Ferdinand and Leo Whitson Feaster. She was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church of Great Bend, Kan. Many words come to mind when trying to capture the true nature of Sue; kind, caring and compassionate are at the top of the list. Sue loved to garden and always had a desire to be outdoors. She loved and cared for her dogs Izzy and Coco. At the end of the day she enjoyed a glass of wine. One of her favorite Places to visit and vacation was the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she met her husband Walter.
She married Walter S. Hobbs on Jan. 21, 1954, he preceded her in death.
Sue is also preceded in death by one son Christopher Hobbs; two brothers, Jack T. Feaster, James R. Feaster; and sister, Dortha J. Coalter.
She is survived by her daughter Deb Rainbolt and Clay Guthmiller; her son Monty Hobbs and wife Denise Hobbs. Sue was blessed with five grandchildren, Travis (Tara Postlethwaite), Traci Rainbolt, Katelyn Hobbs, Ryan Hobbs, Haley Hobbs; great-grandchildren, Georgia Rainbolt-Walley, Dylan and Jade Postlethwaite. She treasured her many nieces and nephews.
