WINFIELD — Susan E. West, 79, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 15, 2015, at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City. Born Dec. 27, 1935, in Ponca City, Okla., she was the daughter of Donald Lee and Imogene Coenia (Gardner) Johnson. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1953. After high school she attended Wichita Business College where she received a degree in accounting. On March 6, 1954, she married James Seymour Eubank in Winfield. To this union three children were born. The couple later divorced. She began working as an accountant at Maneth and Taylor in Great Bend in 1962. Susan was united in marriage to James Darrell West on Aug. 12, 1972, at Emmanuel Methodist Church in Ellinwood. In 1981 they moved to Oklahoma City, Okla., and she went to work for Hazelwood Production and Exploration Company. In 1994 they returned to Winfield and she worked at Grandview United Methodist Church until retiring in 1998.    
Mrs. West was a member of Grandview United Methodist Church, the National Society of Public Accountants and the Kansas Society of Public Accountants.
Survivors include her husband, James D. West of Winfield; children, Chris Eubank of Lawrence, Craig Eubank of Del City, Okla., Cathy Sudik and special son-in-law Jackie of Del City, Okla.; brothers, Steve Hamlin and wife Cathy of Winfield, and James Hamlin and wife Linda of Winfield; grandchildren, Tracy McCormick, Stacy Pece and Ashley LaBranche; and great-grandchildren, Sydney McCormick, Brooklyn Underwood, Candence Minard and KateLynn LaBranche. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by  a brother, Donald Johnson Jr.;  her stepfather Clarence Hamlin; and her sister-in-law Carolyn Johnson.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Grandview United Methodist Church, north of Winfield. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. The family will greet visitors that evening. A memorial has been established in Susan’s name for Grandview United Methodist Church Youth Group Fund.
