Sylvia Irene Eddingfield, 97, passed away on November 27, 2023, at Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt, Kansas. She was born on September 29, 1926, in Seward, Kansas, to Eric and Ida (Bunselmeyer) Fischer. On July 16, 1948, she married Don Triplette in Great Bend, Kansas. He passed on July 12, 1993. She then married Carl Eddingfield on February 14, 1997. He passed on June 21, 2018.
Spending most of her life in Great Bend, Sylvia was a high school graduate from Great Bend High School and attended college at Emporia State Teacher College. She lived in Wichita for twelve years, then returned to Great Bend, working as a breakfast cook at Hardee’s as well as a clerk at Duckwall’s. She was a member of United Church of Christ in Hudson. In 2018, she and Carl moved to Pratt to be near her niece’s family and became a regular attendee at the Pratt Presbyterian Church. Sylvia enjoyed walking, puzzles and time with family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-great nieces.
Survivors include nieces, Brenda (Rex) Johnston of Pratt, Kansas whom she considered as a daughter, Judy (Tom) Wolf of Cedar Park, Texas, and Nancy (Morris) Kirschberg of San Antonio, Texas; nephews, Robert (Jenny) Glynn of Great Bend, Kansas, Donnie Glynn of Hudson, Kansas, Mike Munz of Hudson, Kansas, and Pat Munz of Wichita, Kansas; several great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to Don and Carl, Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Eunice Miller and Elda Glynn.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Pratt Presbyterian Church with Pastor Chris Davis presiding. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Great Bend Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Munz presiding. Memorials have been designated to Pratt Presbyterian Church or Pratt Health Foundation, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
