Terry Wayne Young, 78, passed away on Dec. 28, 2021, at his home in Great Bend, Kan. He was born on Oct. 27, 1943 at Celina, Ohio, to Russell and Mable (Parks) Young. On Aug. 26, 1973, he married Alice Paxton at Durango, Colo.

A long-time Great Bend resident, Terry was the manager for the job service centers for the State of Kansas in Great Bend, Hutchinson and Newton until he retired in 2006. Terry was also a veteran, serving as a sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a past department commander for the D.A.V. in 2013. Terry was an avid sports fan, specifically cheering on the Broncos and Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed playing golf and was a lifetime hunter, picking up pheasant hunting when he moved to Kansas. 

Survivors include, his wife Alice Young of the home; a brother, Altas Knapp and wife Teresa of Sidney, Ohio; sisters, Candy Knapp of Van Wert, Ohio, Laura Bricker of Greenville, Ohio, and Lahoma Frederick of South Carolina; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home with Chaplain Jeffrey Owen presiding. Internment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North. Memorials can be made to the D.A.V. in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
