ABBEVILLE, La. — Thomas Leo Hoss - July 19, 1956 - Sept. 3, 2024
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Monday, Sept, 9, 2024 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 Robley Drive Lafayette, LA 70503, honoring the life of Thomas Leo Hoss, 68, who passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024. He will be laid to rest at St. Anne Mausoleum, 201 Church St. Youngsville, LA 70592, with Reverend Daniel Picard officiating the services. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Michael, Nicholas, Richard, Shawn, Steve Hoss and Rodney Manning. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Duplantis and Bob Viguirie.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m. and on Monday Sept. 9, 2024 at Holy Cross Catholic Church 415 Robley Drive Lafayette, LA 70503 from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass.
Thomas (Tom) Hoss, beloved son, father and grandfather, was born on July 19, 1956 to Stephen and Dolly Hoss in Great Bend, Kan. He spent most of his life in Lafayette, graduating from Acadiana High School in 1974. He was an Eagle Scout and continued to volunteer with the Boy Scouts as an adult. He was very active when his sons were in the scouts. He will be remembered as a dedicated and wonderful father who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his boys and grandkids. Tom was trained as an electrician and worked for the City of Lafayette for 20 years. He also trained in air conditioning. He was always willing to use these skills to help family and friends with repairs and renovations.
He is survived by his mother, Dolly Hall Hoss; his sons, Dr. Michael Hoss MD (Molly) and Nicholas Hoss (Mary); his grandchildren, Ashlyn and Brayden; four brothers and two sisters, Stephen Hoss, Jr. (Katie) Peggy Huard (Claudy), Richard Hoss, Christopher Hoss, Michelle Mazzini (Christopher) and Shawn Hoss (Denise). He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen F. Hoss, Sr.
