OMAHA, Neb. — Thomas P. Seidel, 78, died June 8. He was born on Dec. 24, 1945, in Pratt. A former Great Bend resident, he grew up in Omaha, Neb., and Mitchell, Neb., graduating from Mitchell High School in 1953, and Iowa State University in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy as a supply officer and then worked for Northern Natural Gas for 27 years, retiring in 1987. During retirement, he volunteered for several grade schools in the Omaha Public School system and for more than 20 years at the Omaha Police Department.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marilyn H. (Ohme) Seidel; two sons, James K. Seidel (Susan J.) and Dr. Donald R. Seidel (Brenda); a daughter, Susan L. Seidel; and four grandchildren, Sydney, Thomas, Grace and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents, James J. and Doris Seidel.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, at Countryside Community Church, in Omaha, Neb. Memorials are suggested to Open Door Mission.
