LARNED — Tracy Ray Eye, 69, was called home on April 4, 2020 at The University of Kansas Health System Pawnee Valley Campus, Larned, Kan.
He was born Jan. 28, 1951 in Dodge City, Kan., the son of Clair Kenneth (Kenny) and Wanda Cleone McVaugh Eye.
He retired at First National Bank/Farmer’s Bank in Larned after 35 years. He served in the community in many roles including a past president of the Larned Chamber of Commerce, a founding member of the Pawnee County Fair Board, Treasurer for the Santa Fe Trail Auto Club and the Larned High School All Class Reunion, board member of the Larned Orphan Grain Train, Larned Rotary Club, State Theatre of Larned. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he had served in the past as President and Elder.
Tracy loved working at his shop with his Volkswagens and Studebakers with his faithful dog and buddy Ace. He also helped race Micro Midgets with his nieces and nephews in Garden City. He was fond of making creative items from a variety of scrap parts. He also enjoyed watching movies, racing, and watching car auctions on TV and any car related shows he could find.
Tracy married Lois Larson on Jan. 12, 1985 at Grace Lutheran Church in Larned. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Stacie (Leon) Pearson of Kearney, Neb., Alyson (Shawn) Coffman of Ogallala, Neb., Afton (Russell) Linderer of Larned, and Anika (Turner) Polzin, of McPherson; sister, Cindy (Ed) Boman of Spanaway, Wash.; brother, Rodney Eye of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Paige, Preston and Peytyn Pearson, Emma and Alexandra Coffman, and Edith Elizabeth and Benjamin Russell Linderer, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenny and Wanda Eye.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2020, public live stream via Facebook at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary, at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Randall Jahnke and Pastor Nicholas Martinez presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, Kan. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Santa Fe Trail Auto Club or Larned Orphan Grain Train in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS 67550.
