Vance Craig Harger, 62, died June 9, 2015, at his home in Great Bend. Born Dec. 16, 1952 at Rockford, Mich., he was the son of Vance Giles and Lois (Fernenberg) Harger.
He married Elanna Giltner Dec. 15, 1990 at Golden, Colo. and in 1992 came to Great Bend from Denver, Colo. He was a master level social worker for the State of Kansas. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran. He loved all sports, especially bowling and golf and was an avid Royals fan.
Survivors include his wife, Elanna “Lana” Harger, of the home; his father and step-mother: Vance and Jenny Harger of Grand Rapids, Mich.; four sons: Jason Harger and his wife Amie of Tarpon Springs, Fla,; Matthew Harger and his wife Debbie of Chicago, Ill,; Luca Harger of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Benjamin Harger and his wife Monique of Tampa, Fla.; one daughter: Whitney Henry and her husband Roy of Stockton; one brother: Harvey Harger of Grand Rapids, Mich.;
two sisters: Renee Woodworth of Hillsboro, Md. and Kimberly Harger-Baranowski of Comstock, Mich.; eight grandchildren: Libby, Ashley, Dashiell, Taylor, Vince, Alice, Bently, and Trinity; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be Monday, June 15, at 1 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home with the Reverend Lester Ellis officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, June 14, at Bryant Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established.
