Velta Irene Kasselman Reed Krom 1927-2011
GREAT BEND — Velta Irene Kasselman Reed Krom, 83, passed from this world to enter the heavenly kingdom June 10, 2011 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, following a long illness.
She was born July 5, 1927 at Ellinwood, the daughter of Lewis & Helen (Sloan) Kasselman. She married Richard P. Krom January 9, 1970 at Central Baptist Church, Great Bend.
Mrs. Krom was a lifetime Great Bend resident and worked for Fuller Brush. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Great Bend. She was the strength of the family and loved all. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include husband Richard P. Krom, of the home; a daughter, Sue Gowdy and husband Dan, Great Bend; a stepson, Bruce Krom and wife Veronica, Great Bend; a stepdaughter, Melinda Meyer, Great Bend; seven grandchildren, Jacque Hamilton, Cañon City, Colo.; Patrick Kasselman, Ellinwood; Tammy Gowdy,  Wichita; Craig Gowdy, Great Bend; LyNee Alloway, Otis; Lane Meyer, Great Bend; and Jacob Krom, Great Bend;
11 great-grandchildren, Joe Kasselman, Dylan Wilson, Taylor Wilson, Danielle Kasselman, Amber Kasselman, Deric Gowdy, Dylan Gowdy, Daulton Gowdy, Gaven Alloway, Taylor Alloway and Abbie Meyer.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Kasselman; a stepson, Philip Krom; a brother, Robert Kasselman; and a grandson, Eric Gowdy.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14 at Central Baptist Church, Great Bend with officiant The Reverend John Grummon. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bryant Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans or Renal Care Group, in care of the Bryant Funeral Home.
