Verl Lee Martin 1930 - 2014

   Verl Lee Martin, 84, died December 8 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. He was born August 5, 1930, at Utica, the son of Clade and Sylvia (Everhart) Martin. A Great Bend resident since 1971, he worked for Missouri-Pacific Truck Lines and Turner Farms as a truck driver.
Verl was an avid pheasant and deer hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include one son, Roger Martin and wife Doris of Emporia; four daughters, Carol Leiker and husband Bob of Lebanon, Mo., Shauna Lang and Les of WaKeeney, Lori Quenzer of Hiawatha, and Kami Martin of Texas; one brother, Dwight Martin of Hoisington; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; He is also survived by his ex-wife, Jean Martin, Great Bend; a stepson, Chris; and stepdaughter, Connie. He was preceded in death by one son, Tod Martin; one daughter Keri Sue Martin; and one granddaughter, Stacy Lynn.
There will be a private family graveside service held at Utica Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. A memorial fund has been established to the Verl Lee Martin expense fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
