Verla L. Hipp 1931-2013

SALINA — Verla L. Hipp, 82, died on Nov. 26, 2013 at Sterling House of Salina. Born Jan. 6, 1931, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Frank Ernest and Helen (Schwartz) Ruble. On July 15, 1953 she married Robert F. Hipp in Great Bend. He died on Oct. 12, 1989. A lifelong resident of Great Bend, moving to Salina in 2009, she was employed for U.S.D. 428 as a Certified Food Service worker for 15 years, retiring in 1994. She was a gifted seamtress.
Survivors include two sons, John Hipp and his wife Cheryl, Ozark, Mo.; and Jim Hipp and his wife Debra, Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Janet Saskowski and her husband Neal, Salina; eight grandchildren, Kristi Herr and husband Jeremy, Laura Saskowski and Kyle Saskowski and wife April, all of Salina; Eric Hipp and Adam Hipp, both of Albuquerque, N.M., Rachael Hipp, Ozark, Mo.; Alan Towns and wife Lori, Chesapeake, Va.; and Matt Towns and wife Jeanne, Springfield, Mo.; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother, Larry Ruble, who passed away  Oct. 11, 2013.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Great Bend Cemetery with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating.
Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
