Virgil Earl Hogan 1925 - 2014

HOISINGTON — Virgil Earl Hogan, 89, died June 23 at Hospice House of Reno County in Hutchinson. Born April 25, 1925, in Hoisington, he was the son of Dennis and Elsie (Jones) Hogan. On June 25, 1946, he married Dolores Jean Lutschg in Hoisington. She died on May 18, 2011. A lifetime resident of Hoisington, living in Buhler since 2010, he was a roughneck for Woodman-Iannitti Drilling Company.
Mr. Hogan was a member of the First Christian Church and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, both in Great Bend.
Survivors include one son, Craig Hogan of Hutchinson; one daughter, Earlene Lickly and husband Lonnie of Garfield; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Hogan and Charles Riedl; and two sisters Mary Rose Robbs and Carol Strobel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 27, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the Hoisington Cemetery.
