Virginia Mary Andrasek 1925-2012

GREAT BEND — Virginia Mary Andrasek died May 11, 2012 at the Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Dec. 9, 1925 at Liebenthal, Kansas, the daughter of Andrew and Josephine (Depperschmidt) Herrman.
She married Frank Andrasek June 16, 1948 at Liebenthal. He died Sept. 27, 1977.
She was a homemaker and also worked alongside her husband on the family farm near Oakley. Mrs. Andrasek was a Great Bend resident since 1953, coming from Liebenthal. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Great Bend.  
She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and fishing and most of all her grandchildren, visiting with family and friends, and cooking for anyone who entered her home and on holidays.
Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine Shanks, Great Bend; two sisters, Mary Leiker, Munjor; Dorothy Davenport, La Crosse; a brother, Elmer Herrman, Liebenthal; three grandchildren, Robert Shanks, Jr., Stockton, Calif.; Deanna Eldridge and her husband Wally, Great Bend; Sandy Clanton, Great Bend; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lester Herrman; son-in-law, Robert B. Shanks, Sr.; a brother, Gilbert Herrman, three sisters, Cleopha Leiker, Irene Schmidt, and Theresa Lewis; and a great-grandchild, Robbie Shanks.
An Altar Society Rosary is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. A Vigil Service will start at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Celebrant Father Reginald A. Urban. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, both at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial Funds are suggested to the Virginia Andrasek Memorial Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
