ELLSWORTH — Vivian Marie Kratzer, 89, passed away Feb. 8, 2016, in Ellsworth County.
Born April 20, 1926, in Ellsworth County, she was the daughter of Marie (Janda) and John Borecky. On May 13, 1945, she married Henry Kratzer at Immanuel Lutheran Church. A lifetime resident of Ellsworth County, she was a homemaker and farmer’s wife and a clerk at the local bakery. She also worked at Duckwall’s and the Blackwolf General Store. She enjoyed genealogy.
Mrs. Kratzer was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, Town and Country FCE, Holyrood American Legion Auxiliary, and LWML.
Survivors include three sons, Darrel Kratzer (Martha), Granite City, Ill., Harlan Kratzer (Mary), Escondido, Calif., and John Kratzer (Carol), Ellsworth; a daughter, Iris Haime, Rockford, Ill; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Liebby Sebesta and Myrene Soukup (Robert), both of Wilson, Viola Jiricek, Ellsworth, and Mildred Hynes, Sylvan Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Henry Kratzer; son, Kenneth Kratzer; and brother, Lester Borecky in 1988.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ellsworth with a private family inurnment at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ellsworth Senior Center, or Ellsworth County Historical Society, in care of the funeral home.
