HOISINGTON — Wade Jackson Morris, 62, died May 12, 2022, at Clara Barton Hospital. He was born December 22, 1959, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Bobby J. and Virginia (Cronic) Morris.

Wade graduated from Greensburg High School in 1978 and then received his Associate Degree from SouthWestern College.

A longtime Barton County resident, Wade was a self-employed welder working on the pipeline and odd jobs until recently when he started teaching his craft to future welders at Barton County Community College. He loved to tinker in his shop creating and inventing new things, and mentoring and helping anyone in need. Wade enjoyed gardening, fishing and crafting his own fishing lures, and would share a beer with anyone that bought it. He especially enjoyed lovingly tormenting his grandchildren. 

On May 3, 1986, he married Diane Suchy at St. Rose Catholic Church in Great Bend. She survives along with their four children; Chelsi (Chris) Holinde of Great Bend, Shayla (Kody) Cook, Caitlyn (Cory) Meitner, and Hunter Morris, all of Hoisington; two brothers, Jeff (Carolyn) Morris and Derek (Joyce) Morris, all of Wichita; a stepbrother, Christopher (Lanissa) Hammond of Marion; a stepsister, Brenda (Butch) Robertson of Colorado; and most importantly his ten beloved grandchildren, Haylee, Corbyn, Treyton, and Bayne Holinde, Millie, Marcie, and Albie Wade Cook, Tripp, Everleigh, and Lyla Wade Meitner.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby J. Morris, mother, Virginia Hammond, stepfather Stewart Hammond and a sister, Chandra Morris.

Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.  There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Don Fisher presiding. Inurnment will follow in Hoisington City Cemetery.
