ELLINWOOD — Walter H. Rehme, 89, passed away at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood, KS on Feb. 11, 2018. Born on April 5, 1928 on the farm in rural Ellinwood, he was the son of Adolph and Tena (Siefkes) Rehme. Formerly of Miami, Okla., Walter was a longtime Ellinwood resident where he worked as a farmer and also enjoyed building and inventing in the workshop.
He was preceded in death by two spouses, Virginia (Batchman) Rehme who passed away in 1989, and Norma (Kitchen) Rehme who passed away in 2017. Mr. Rehme was also preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Chad Henkle. Survivors include daughter, Karen Herrenbruck, Ellinwood, KS; son, Mark Rehme, Ellinwood, KS and six loving grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Elllinwood with Pastor Wade Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood. Visitation will be at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood on Wednesday, February 14 from 1-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel United Church of Christ, Ellinwood in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
