LAWRENCE — Wanda Jean Nelson, of Lawrence, Kan., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021 at the age of 90. Wanda was born on Jan. 10, 1931 in Barnsdall, Okla. to George and Mae (Gibbs) Harris. Wanda was a very witty, fun, and loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Wanda is survived by her daughters, Ellen (John) Nixon and Janet (Ace) Phillips; sister, Lila Junk; grandchildren, Kim Nixon, Chad Nixon, Greg (Shana) Phillips, Nicole (Kevin) Miller, Shawn Pence, and Stuart Pence; seven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mae (Gibbs) Harris; husband, Calvin Pence; husband, Bill Nelson; son, Steve Pence; and special fur-baby, Tibby the Tibetan Tidbit.

Memorial donations in Wanda’s name can be directed to the Lawrence Humane Society or the Bradford Memorial Library in El Dorado, Kan.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Sunset Lawns.
