Wendale E. McAllaster, M. D., F. A. C. S., 90, died Oct. 18, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born Oct. 23, 1924, at Greeley County, the son of Rollin Marquis and Edna Pearl (Stahley) McAllaster.
He married Donna Lee Rhodes Jan. 28, 1950, at Gosper County, Nebraska. A retired surgeon, Dr. McAllaster was a Great Bend resident since 1962, coming from Greeley County. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II.  
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Barton County Medical Society, Kansas State Medical Society, American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, Great Bend Rotary, Rotary International, American Trapshooting Association, Past Board member of Kansas Blue Shield and National Blue Shield, Past President of CKMC Medical Staff, and ROMEOs.
Survivors include his wife: Donna Lee McAllaster, of the home; two sons, Charles Mark McAllaster of Longmont, Colo., and James Wendale McAllaster of Garden City; four daughters, Nancy J. Champion and her husband Tom of Shelby Township, Mich., Claudia L. McAllaster, M.D., of Leavenworth, Paula A. McAllaster of Little Rock, Ark., and Tammy McAllaster Ellison and her husband Elton of Leland, N.C.; and one sister, Iladeene G. Leierer of Langley, Wash. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Nicholas A. Wilkoff of Alexandria, Va., Anna Jochum of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich., and Luke H. Feil of Valley Center; and five great-grandchildren, Nathan Jochum, Fiona Jochum, Annabelle Wilkoff, Benjamin Wilkoff and Jack Feil. He was preceded in death by one brother, Allan R. McAllaster, PhD, and three sisters, Elva A. McAllaster, PhD, Aleta McAllaster and Myrtie McAllaster.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at First United Methodist Church in Great Bend with the Rev. Lennie Maxwell, officiant. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home.
