ELLINWOOD — Wesley Powell Balun, 41, passed away in Ellinwood on July 3, 2017. He was born Sept. 2, 1975, in Great Bend, to John and Cheri (Hartenbower) Balun. Wes was an Ellinwood resident for most of his life where he graduated from High School in 1994. He later went on to receive his associate degree in theology from McPherson College. Wes was a member of the My Country 93.5 Radio team in La Crosse where he worked as a DJ. He was also known throughout both the La Crosse and Ellinwood areas for his work with the local sports teams and will be missed by many in both communities.
Survivors include sister, Farra Mourning and brother in-law, Darren Talley, Wichita. Other survivors include niece, Jasmine Lamarche; two nephews, Simon Mourning and Nathan Talley; and great-nephew, Liam Sing. Wes was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 8, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood with Pastor Mark Sizemore officiating. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children or Golden Belt Humane Society in care of Minnis Chapel. Condolences can be left at www.minnischapel.org.
