Willa Mae Springfeldt 1920-2014

Willa Mae Springfeldt, 93, died July 10, at Almost Home in Great Bend. Born July 11, 1920, in Springfield, Mo., she was the daughter of William and Ethel Mae (Renfro) Teem. On Nov. 23, 1940, she married Virgil L. Springfeldt in Cottonwood Falls. He died on June 7, 1992. A resident of Great Bend since 1972, coming from Bushton, she and her husband were owner and operator of IGA of Bushton and Kwik Shop in Great Bend. She enjoyed playing the piano and cello.
Mrs. Springfeldt was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Mike Springfeldt of St. John, Matt Springfeldt and Mark Springfeldt, both of Great Bend; two daughters, Martha Cheshire of Bushton, and Mary Garner of St. John; sister-in-law, Bonnie Clough of Tulsa, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Ann Springfeldt; and one sister, Martha Johnsmeyer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Great Bend with Pastor Julie Shields officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at the Bushton Cemetery, at a later date. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., on Monday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Lasting Life Ministries to benefit Almost Home or First Congregational United Church of Christ, in care of the funeral home.
