William Bill Richard Setzkorn 1920 - 2011

DODGE CITY — William “Bill” Richard Setzkorn, 91, died Nov. 16, 2011 at the Hodgeman County Longterm Care Center, in Jetmore.
He was born Oct. 22, 1920 in Dodge City, the son of Theodore Henry and Wilhelmenia (Boger) Setzkorn.
On Aug 8, 1959 he married Betty Mallonee in Dodge City. Bill enjoyed snow skiing, reading, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Setzkorn was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Dodge City and St. Michaels Lutheran Church where he served as treasurer. He served on the Hodgeman County Extension Board, was a Board of Director and past president of the Hodgeman County Hospital, past president of the American Agriculture Movement, belonged to the National Organization of Raw Materials and AMBER grazing association.
Bill is survived by his wife, Betty Setzkorn, Dodge City; a son, Theodore Setzkorn and wife Pam, Jetmore; two daughters, Marsha Meyer and husband Mark, Tampa; and Sandra Showalter and husband Nathan, Rush Center; a brother, Eugene Setzkorn and wife Pat, Ponca City, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Grady William Showalter May 25, 2011; sister, Leona Vevers; and infant brother, Alvin.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery in Hodgeman County.
Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday. Bill can be remembered with flowers or memorials to the Lutheran Hour or Hodgeman County 4-H Foundation both in care of the funeral home. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
