ELLINWOOD — William Henry “Bill” Kimpler, 89, died Dec. 8, 2012 in Oklahoma City.
He was born March 24, 1923 in Ellinwood, the son of Esther Schartz and Henry Joseph Kimpler.
He was a resident of Oklahoma City, formerly of Ellinwood. He married Myna Tipton in 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood. She survives. Bill joined the Marines and served as a Master Sergeant in World War II and the Korean War, with tours of duty that included Iwo Jima in the Philippines, and the Inchon Peninsula in Korea.
Bill worked as an oil field pump supplier for Harbison-Fischer Company for 35 years. He was a member of St. James the Catholic Church in Oklahoma City.
Survivors include his wife, Myna (Tipton) Kimpler, of the home; his daughters, Kathleen Cermak and Janet and Jon F. Love; a sister, Mary Therese Landreth, Wichita; and granddaughters, Cindy and Terry Jones; Lacey and Cody Link; and Sarah and Clay Pope; and great grandchildren, Madeleine and Ian Pope; Brady and Tyler Jones, and William Link.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Henrietta Casey.
A Mass of Resurrection was celebrated Dec. 14 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Oklahoma City.
