Wilma “Jean” Schenk, 83, died July 27 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born April 18, 1930 in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Joe and Zora (Zinn) Stukey. On May 5, 1965 she married Clemith Burton in Hoisington. He died on Oct. 21, 1994. She married Harold Schenk on Dec. 14, 1996 in Olmitz. He survives. A long time resident of Great Bend, she owned and operated a beauty salon.
Mrs. Schenk was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the American Legion Argonne Post 180 Auxiliary, all of Great Bend. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Arizona, Texas, and frequent trips to various casinos.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Schenk, of the home; three step-daughters, Kaye Crawford of Springfield, Mo., Rhonda Schenk-Pitts of Stockton, and Roxanne Rich of Great Bend; four grandchildren, Chris Crawford of Hays, Tim Crawford of Springfield, Mo., Jennifer Pack of Kansas City, Mo., and Colby Crawford of Chase; sister-in-law, Ramona Stukey; many great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Leonard Stukey, Olen Stukey, Mano Stukey, Wayne Stukey, and Joe Stukey; and five sisters, Lova Carlson, Marguerite Narron, Thelma Stukey, Hazel Lindenmuth, and Gladys Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. An Altar Society Rosary will be held at 4 p.m. and a vigil service with rosary will be held at 7 p.m., both today at Bryant Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
