Winnie I. Ashley 1933 - 2014

LARNED — Winnie I. Ashley, 81, passed away Nov. 5 at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. Born Sept. 11, 1933, in Oklahoma, she was the daughter of George and Edna Messner Neal. On Feb. 24, 1957, she married Leonard Ashley. They later divorced. He passed away on May 28, 2013. A longtime area resident, she was a Licensed Mental Health Technician at the Larned State Hospital.
Ms. Ashley was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Larned. She participated in the Farmers Market in Great Bend.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Watkins of Larned and Linda Durham and husband John, of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Vada Trout and husband Sam, Modesto, Calif.; two grandchildren, Eric Elston and wife Tiffany, and Logan Watkins, both of Larned; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Eric Allen Ashley; a daughter, Mary Neal; and two brothers, Gerald Neal and Elmo Neal.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor LeRoy Lyon presiding. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
