Words kill.
That’s the message coming from left-wing news and entertainment outlets Salon, MSNBC, Huffington Post, The Nation and the Comedy Channel, as well as pandering, opportunistic politicians.
Conservative “rhetoric” caused Robert Dear, described by acquaintances as “weird,” “not very cognitive,” and “deranged,” to murder three people and wound nine others.
Reporting on the undercover video that revealed Planned Parenthood employees negotiating sales of fetus organs is now somehow hateful rhetoric that drives people to kill.
The second video features a woman identified as Dr. Mary Gatter, who was president of the Planned Parenthood Medical Directors’ Council until 2014 and now works in a leadership and advisory capacity at the local and national level of the organization.
Over drinks, Gatter and the undercover activists discuss “specimen” prices, eventually settling at $100 for “intact tissue.”
Planned Parenthood supporters are understandably outraged. The seamy underbelly of human organ harvesting and the purveyors demonstrating a lack of human compassion for the fetuses is beyond cruel.
Liberals claim Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser drove Dear to violence when she said the videos are “further evidence that Planned Parenthood profits from the illegal harvest and sale of the body parts of aborted children.”
They believe or just want others to believe the videos are fake or “highly edited” and want to publicly shame everyone who has a different opinion than theirs.
And they do it with great arrogance.
If one person makes a public statement impugning a person or organization that is later attacked by some mentally ill person, then the person making the comment(s) is responsible for the other person’s behavior.
So far, the accusers themselves have impugned Fox News and a parade of conservatives. So, if some crazy left-winger attacks someone at a conservative organization, then by their own definition those left-wing writers, reporters and commentators are responsible for the attack.
It’s already happened.
Gay activist Floyd Corkins was angry over the Family Research Council’s (FRC) support for heterosexual marriage. Fueling his anger is left-wing activist Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) officially labeling the FRC a “hate group.”
So, Corkins loaded up on guns and ammo, told FRC security guard Leo Johnson, “I don’t like your politics,” and shot him.
Wounded, Johnson was able to subdue Corkins and call police.
Did the SPLC rhetoric cause Corkins to shoot Johnson? Does the SPLC owe Johnson, a black man whose life matters, an apology?
Apparently not.
Since liberals in the media claim to sincerely believe rhetoric causes people to kill, there should be no reporting or opining on any organization that might lead some deranged person to commit violence against that person or organization.
For example, President Obama would by this definition be responsible for police shootings.
At least one black sheriff does believe the President is responsible for such killings.
Sheriff David Clarke of Milwaukee says, “The President of the United States started this war on police.”
“Where is the President, calling for a stop to this hate and madness? He’s come out to defend the likes of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown - how about the nation’s men and women in blue, too? Shows exactly which lives our president believes matter and which, not so much.”
Liberal talk show host Randi Rhodes entertained her audience with “jokes” about assassinating President Bush, complete with gunfire sound effects.
Liberal talk show host Mike Malloy verbalized his death-wish for Matt Drudge, saying “somebody ought to wrap a strong Republican entrail around his neck and hoist him up about six feet in the air and watch him bounce.”
New York Times’ Paul Krugman encouraging progressives to “hang Sen. Joe Lieberman in effigy,” Democratic Facebook death wishes and Sandra Bernhard’s gang-rape threat for Sarah Palin are all more vicious rhetoric encouraging violence than pro-lifers’ statements about the value of human life.
Might they be held responsible for those individuals’ death threats?
It would dissolve the narrative, which is right-wingers spew hate and incite violence while left-wingers are sweet and innocent victims.
