Hillary Clinton sniffs, “Don’t let anyone tell you that, um, you know, (smirk) corporations and businesses create jobs.”
Barack Obama chastises, “If you have a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
Analysts around the country have correctly noted that Obama and Hillary were trying to be Elizabeth Warren, Lioness of the Leeches, Princess of Thieves. Here’s the way Warren said it:
“There is nobody in this country who got rich on their own. Nobody. You built a factory out there - good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory... Now look. You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or a great idea - God bless! Keep a hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.”
The premise is that jobs and opportunity is all “us versus them” for political profit.
Hillary, Obama and Warren are saying it is only right and just that the government take from those who achieved financial success due to their abilities, and give it to others who don’t have as much in the way of money or possessions.
How big a “hunk” should liberals take from successful people? It all depends on how much their supporters want, doesn’t it?
The Acorn activists both in and out of jail set the standard for the Occupy liberals who demand $35 an hour for everyone whether or not they’re working. Yup. Take from the rich and give to the slackers. If you were 18 years old and given $35 an hour to hang out with friends, how motivated would you be to learn a trade?
Who cares? Just vote for $35 an hour!
Warren really articulates the concept of wealth transfer well. Successful people don’t deserve their success, “God Bless ‘em,” because “the rest of us” (i.e., people who didn’t borrow and sacrifice to start a business) paid taxes that built the roads and public schools that they and their employees use to gain employment at their business.
It sounds ridiculous to most people because we know that these lousy rotten stinking “God Bless ‘em” business builders also paid the taxes that built the roads and built the schools.
So, why should the successful people pay even more?
Because even though business owners pay people to work for them, those people who work for them don’t make as much money as the owners who put their life savings on the line and mortgaged their futures in order to hire those people who work for them.
That’s why the employers need to pay much more in taxes than the employees.
It sounds like a really beefy pay increase without having to work more.
That’s why Hillary and Obama try so desperately to sound like Elizabeth Warren, justifying higher taxes on the one out of eight Americans who spend at least a year in the top 1 percent, those earning over $398,000 a year and even talking about increasing taxes on the top 5 percent, the mostly two-income households bringing in more than $166,000 a year.
“You don’t deserve that! I work just as hard as you! Give it to me!”
Alexis de Tocqueville, the 19th century writer credited with the original concept of American Exceptionalism, famously wrote, “The America Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.”
Not just Congress.
N’importe quoi ...
