The farmers market here is a rousing event, filling the town square with dozens of produce vendors from around the state and local bands providing nonstop music. It’s also one of the most tightly-governed markets in the nation. The strawberries come fresh from Watsonville, the peaches from Fresno and, of course, the summer’s first grapes from Napa and Sonoma ---- all within a few hours drive.
