Dear editor,
Compare the seven days in Genesis to the formation of the universe believed by science as well as the seven lines of the periodic table.
Day 1- Genesis tells us in the beginning God said, “Let there be light” and light came into existence and was then separated from dark.
The periodic table has only two elements in its first line: hydrogen and helium.
Science has provided us with a timeline of the universe that begins with an unknown source triggering a rapid expansion of space and time. Ten seconds after expansion begins, photons of radiation (AKA “light”) dominate the universe and link to matter particles produced during the expansion, separating them from dark matter particles. After 400,000 years the particles cooled enough to separate from light and combine to form the first elements. This resulted in clouds of hydrogen and helium as well as a light pattern called the Cosmic Microwave Background.
Day 2- Genesis tells us God created an expanse that separated the waters above the expanse from the waters below. The expanse was called Heaven.
After the light pattern astronomers found a period of time referred to as the Dark Ages. During period short-lived stars consisting of hydrogen and helium are believed to have created the elements of the second line of the table of elements. The resulting oxygen would be necessary for water formation.
Science tells us that during this period density waves appeared in the universe that created polarization effects. Researchers at Stanford University found that polarization increases the ordered structure of water and creates hydrophobic interactions.
Day 3- Genesis tells of God bringing about “Earth” and “Seas.” From this Earth God brought forth grasses, herbs and fruit trees.
The third line of the table of elements brings us to the basic elements that take part in the life of plants.
Information from the Kepler telescope tell us that small rocky planets could have begun supporting early life when the universe was still young.
Day 4- Genesis tells us God placed sun, moon and stars into the sky.
Line four of the periodic table brings iron and nickel into existence. These elements are highly magnetic.
At the center of our earth as well as many other planets and stars is a core of iron and nickel that moves around to create the geomagnetic fields your compass responds to. Evidence has shown that magnetic fields were very important for the formation of galaxies and our own solar system of the sun, planets and moons.
Day 5- Genesis tells us that in the fifth day God created sea creatures, fowl, great monsters and creeping creatures the waters have teemed with.
It has been found recently that all animal cells need bromine (Br), which was not available until the end of line 4. Animals could not have evolved until line 5 of the periodic table.
The Cambrian Explosion produced an Earth swarming with sea creatures, birds, dinosaurs and early mammals. Additionally, the evolution of animal life on earth would not be possible without the tides created by the moon.
Day 6- Genesis tells us that in the sixth day God created cattle, creeping things of the ground, beasts of the field and man and woman.
Line 6 contains several elements found in ultra-trace amounts in the human body whose presence is not understood.
Science believes that a major extinction level event occurred on our planet to bring about the demise of dinosaurs and usher in a new era for mammals.
