To the editor:
Kamala Harris may be unqualified for the office of President of the United States. After all, she is just a woman. She served as a U.S. senator from California from 2017 to 2021, and earlier as the attorney general of California. And, of course, she has served as Vice President for the past four years, if that counts for anything.
On the other hand, her opponent, Donald John Trump, entered the political arena with massive experience as a real estate mogul, a privileged DEI millionaire (Didn’t Earn It) who INHERITED his fortune from his father, and his most recent gig prior to running for president in 2016 was running a TV show. Wow, it’s hard to compete with those qualifications. His illustrious “career” as President included a list of failures and missteps on which time and space here preclude elaboration. He has been quoted as asking what is the use of having nuclear weapons if we don’t use them. He has repeatedly praised tyrants and dictators, i.e. Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Xi Jinping, and it is a well-known fact that his favorite book is Adolph Hitler’s “Mein Kampf.”
Most recently, he has pleaded with Christians to vote, just this one time, and “you’ll never have to do it again.” What does he mean by that? Well, good question, because he can’t/won’t explain it. Which brings me to another point. His supporters claim that he “tells it like it is.” And yet, they’ve spent nearly eight years trying to explain what he meant. And what he says needs a LOT of explaining, since most of what he says is incoherent babble, mainly centered around things like homes not having enough water pressure, the condition of our airports and our air defense military during the Revolutionary War, etc., but also peppered with constant promises to do away with parts of the U.S. Constitution, if not ALL of it, and promises to get revenge against anyone who has disagreed with or disrespected him. He has nothing good to say about the U.S. except how “beautiful” it will be if he is elected president. Vice President Harris has also been widely criticized for the sound of her laugh, unfortunately something over which she has no control. In comparison, former president Trump’s laugh is ... well, has anyone ever heard it? Has anyone ever seen him smile, other than that smug sneer when he fantasizes about getting revenge?
This, apparently, is the best the Republican party has to offer ... a spoiled, entitled, rich little brat who is hell-bent on having his way one way or another. A man-child who is so thirsty for unbridled power that he incited an insurrection in order to stay in power (in violation of the U.S. Constitution), even encouraging violence against his own vice president for not supporting him in his illegal activity. Well, if you elect a clown, you get a circus; if you re-elect Donald Trump, you’ll be lucky if a circus is all you get.
