To the editor:
We are writing this to thank all those who are involved with Kids Ag Day for the 4th graders of Barton County. We hear the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” They take it to a whole other extreme.
The Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee put on such an informative and fun day for our students, they will remember it for the rest of their lives. They have a “herd” of volunteers who give up their day to teach our children all about farming and everything that is involved. To those many volunteers we give our deepest thank you and sincere appreciation for sharing your time and knowledge with our students.
This year they served Dominoes pizza to every one of the participants and volunteers. We have been told Dominoes was very generous when it came time to pay for the pizza. We can’t imagine the time and manpower it took to make all those pizzas! You figure all the fourth graders in Barton County, the adults who were with them, and the many volunteers, that is a LOT of pizza!
Then we add in Farm Bureau. They have a teachers’ luncheon before school starts to inform teachers of what to expect and how things will be run. They also pay for any and all fourth graders and their adults entrance into the Kansas State Fair. Many of our students have never been, or may never have the opportunity to go except for this trip. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
We are proud to be part of a community who invest so much time and resources into our students.
