Allison offers proven leadership

Dear Editor,
To the citizens of Great Bend:
There are numerous factors to consider when choosing a leader for our community.
I would like to address a few factors that come to my mind.
Mike Allison has proved his leadership ability in many ways over the past years. With a focus on growing the city, I have seen that the city has grown 4.2 percent from the 2000 Census to the 2010 Census.
Mike’s leadership had a lot to do with that growth.
Mike Allison’s long-term leadership and vast network of associates at the state and federal level of government have aided in bringing a great deal of money and benefits to our community. In the past, Mike has met with our senators and congressmen both in Washington and when they have been in our area. They have helped on many projects including street work and the sewer rehabilitation, making it so local taxpayers won’t have to pay such a large share of the costs.
Mike Allison is diligent in fiduciary responsibilities with our city’s money. Many state and local governments are trying to reduce their deficits and balance their budgets. Mike has seen to it that we have not created a deficit and our budget has not seen the negative cash flows that you hear about across the country. It did not take a recession to cause him to be fiscally conservative. He has always been that way.
A leader should try to find positive ways to lead. Mike has always believed that Great Bend could grow and has worked hard to lead our economic developments. He has worked with the young people in the community to develop activities for them to enjoy. He has included young people in the decision making process. His positive leadership has made it easier for young people to want to return to Great Bend after they go off to college and get their education. He invites our college students to return to their home town.
Please join me in voting for the person who will place their efforts in creating more jobs, leading in a positive manner, keeping our finances protected, including our young people in decisions, helping get our college education people back to their home town, and thinking of the community before themselves.
Mike Allison is that person.
Please vote for Mike Allison for mayor.
David Thill,
Great Bend
